Renew yourself with Asian Bodywork Therapy!

AOBTA® Minnesota is the local chapter of the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia.  Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT) modalities are holistic, relaxing, and rejuvenating.  They benefit from many centuries of practice, observation, and refinement.

Healing with the hands is one of the oldest and most effective forms of healing.  Asian Bodywork Therapists’s look at the whole person and their goal is to help align the energies of the body, mind, and spirit.  You can use Asian Bodywork Therapy to maintain your health, improve your response to stress, and for pure enjoyment!

Asian Bodywork Therapy (ABT) and  Massage Therapy (MT) are recognized as two distinct professions by the United States Department of Education:

·         ABT is defined as the provision of relief, improved health and well-being through one or more of the traditional bodywork therapies of Asia which are based on Chinese medical principles.
·         MT is defined as the provision of relief, improved health and well-being through the application of manual techniques for manipulating skin, muscles and connective tissues.

There are many types of Asian bodywork.  Many of the Asian Bodywork Therapists in Minnesota practice a form of Shiatsu Therapy.  Shiatsu is a form of acupressure that also involves kneading and stretching.  The practice of shiatsu is rooted in over 3,000 years of Asian Medicine.  Other forms of Asian Bodywork Therapy practiced in Minnesota include Tui Na (a Chinese style of acupressure), Nuad Bo Ran or Thai Massage, Chi Nei Tsang (Chinese abdominal massage), Acupressure and Jin Shin Do®.  Check out the modalities listed elsewhere on this site for more information on each form.
