Always interesting and inspirational, Thea Elijah returns to Building Bridges of Integration for Traditional Chinese Medicine with two offerings this Fall in Chantilly, VA
Wednesday, June 01, 2011 Written by Lois NeveOn Thursday, October 20, from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm Thea Elijah is presenting a pre-conference workshop in with her long-time colleague, noted pediatrician Stephen Cowan. The workshop is entitled, "How to Have the Time (& Space) of Your Life: A Spiritual Journey in a Material World." They will present on how we, as spiritual beings, inhabit our family and lifetime roles. Focusing on some key physiological and psychological landmarks of life: namely; birth, growth, adolescence and other transitions, discovering our purpose, and aging, Thea and Stephen will give their dynamic take on parenting and family and the challenges and opportunities of modern life from an integrated perspective of Western and Chinese medicine.
Thea's second offering will be a workshop on Saturday afternoon, October 22, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. This year, she takes on the topic, "The Fire Element: Trans
formation from Anxiety to Connection," and follows the movement of heart, spirit and consciousness. In traditional Chinese medicine, the Heart is the considered to be the Emperor, because it is the light of timeless consciousness, eternally present as Here and Now. The Fire element allows our timeless consciousness to be felt and expressed through human contact. Anxiety arises when we are not-quite-here and not-quite-now, and in this workshop we learn that this emotion in the body-mind-spirit continuum can be transformed to share our light fully with others. We learn to bask in the exchange of human warmth, and how to be intimate and open without being vulnerable. This workshop explores how we can maintain deep connection with our own heart and the Heart of Life.
